Privacy Policy
What SeniorLeaf collects, who gets it, and how long we keep it. In plain language, with nothing sold and no ads.
Effective October 21, 2026
1. Who we are
SeniorLeaf is a free directory that helps families find senior care: assisted living, memory care, care at home and the professionals who provide it. SeniorLeaf is run by Loca US, Corp. ("SeniorLeaf", "we", "us"). This policy covers seniorleaf.com and the SeniorLeaf app, which shows the same site.
It does not cover the partner portal that providers use to manage their listings, which has its own terms, or the websites of the providers we list.
2. What we collect
You can use SeniorLeaf without an account and without telling us who you are. We collect:
- What you send in an inquiry, only when you tick the consent box: your name, email, phone number, your message, and any move-in date, budget, way of paying and care needs you choose to give. We also record which version of the consent wording you agreed to.
- What you type or say to the AI search assistant. See section 5.
- Your location, only if you allow it when you choose "Near me". It is rounded to about 110 metres (360 feet) and stored on your device.
- Technical data that every website receives: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open and when. We use it to run the site, stop spam and abuse, and fix errors.
We do not ask for your Social Security number, payment details, medical records or insurance numbers. Please don't put them in a message.
3. How we use it
- To send your inquiry to the provider you chose, and to keep a record that you agreed to it.
- To answer your search: turning what you asked into the care type, place and filters, and finding nearby cities.
- To keep the site working and safe: limiting automated requests, blocking spam inquiries, and finding and fixing errors. Our error reports (Sentry) leave out what you typed and the pages of individual care professionals.
- To understand which pages people visit, through Ahrefs Web Analytics on the website (not in the app). It uses no cookies and does not identify you.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not make automated decisions that have legal or similar effects on you.
4. Who we share it with
The provider you contact. When you send an inquiry, the provider who runs that listing receives your details by email, and a text-message alert if they have turned that on, so they can reply. Once they have it, their own privacy policy applies. Providers do not pay SeniorLeaf for inquiries, and we never send your inquiry to anyone you did not choose.
Service providers who process data for us and may not use it for their own purposes: Vercel (hosting), Google (Gemini for the assistant, Google Maps for the map), Sentry (error reports), Ahrefs (page-view counts), SendGrid (email) and Twilio (text messages to providers).
When the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or our rights, and to a buyer if SeniorLeaf is sold, who must keep this policy's promises.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
5. The AI search assistant
The search assistant is software, not a person. When you type a question, our server may send the words to Google's Gemini API to work out what you are looking for, then shows results from our directory. We don't store your words, put them in our logs or error reports, or use them to train any model. Google processes them for us under its API terms.
If you use the microphone, your browser's own speech service turns your voice into text (for example Google in Chrome, Apple in Safari). SeniorLeaf only receives the text.
If you let the assistant use your location, it is sent to our server to find nearby cities and is not stored. The assistant keeps your conversation in this browser tab until you close it, and sets one cookie that counts your questions for a day so we can limit costs.
Please don't type medical details you'd rather keep private. The assistant gives information, not medical, legal or financial advice.
6. Cookies and device storage
SeniorLeaf sets one cookie and uses your browser's storage for a few things. None of it is used for advertising or to follow you to other sites, so there is no cookie banner.
- sl_assistant_ft (cookie, 24 hours): counts questions typed to the assistant.
- On this device until you clear it: your shortlist and notes, your saved location (30 days at most), print and map choices, text size in the app, and the name and organization you put in the "send" form.
- Until you close the tab: the assistant conversation and the places you picked to compare.
A shortlist link you share carries the listings and, if you used the "send" form, the name and organization you entered. It never carries your notes. Google Maps may set its own cookies when the map loads.
7. How long we keep it
We delete inquiries 180 days after you send them. The provider you contacted keeps its own copy under its own policy. Anything on your device stays until you clear it. Our hosting and error-reporting providers keep technical logs for their standard periods.
8. Your choices
- You can use every part of SeniorLeaf without sending an inquiry or allowing location.
- You can turn off location for this site in your browser or phone settings at any time.
- To stop a provider contacting you, reply to them directly. To have us delete your inquiry sooner, email support@seniorleaf.com.
- We honor Global Privacy Control. Because we don't sell or share your information, it and Do Not Track change nothing about what we do.
Remove what SeniorLeaf saved in this browser: your shortlist, notes, saved location, compare picks, the assistant conversation and your preferences.
Turn on JavaScript, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
9. Your state privacy rights
Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia and other states with privacy laws), you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, or delete it. We won't treat you differently for asking.
Email support@seniorleaf.com from the email address, or give the phone number, you used in your inquiry, so we can match the request to the record. An authorized agent can ask for you with your signed permission. We reply within 45 days. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer; if you are still unhappy, you can contact your state attorney general.
California: in the last 12 months we collected identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address), the inquiry details in section 2, approximate location, and internet activity on our site. We collected them from you and your device, for the purposes in section 3, and disclosed them only as in section 4. We did not sell or share them, or use sensitive information to infer things about you.
Care needs you put in an inquiry may count as health data. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains how we handle it for people in Washington, Nevada and Connecticut.
10. Children
SeniorLeaf is for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us information, email support@seniorleaf.com and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Inquiries are stored on access-controlled servers and deleted on schedule. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
SeniorLeaf is not a health care provider or insurer, so the federal health privacy law HIPAA does not apply to us. This policy and state law do.
12. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top and add a line to the version history below. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we will ask before applying it.
Our Terms of Use also apply when you use SeniorLeaf.
